This weekend we went to Galaxy Erding, a waterpark in Erding Germany. This is only a short distance away from Munich. It was an awesome day! We met at the commissary and took a bus for almost three hours. We arrived at the waterpark around 11am and had almost 10 hours to explore. The place was huge! There were about 15 waterslides of varying difficulty. Some used tubes and others you just sat or slid down. I can’t say that any were ‘boring’ just more tame than others. We all felt like teenagers again (and a few of us were). There were families of all ages and sizes but it was clear that everyone was having a good time. One ride was simply a long and very steep drop, another was a shoot that shot you up to 10 meters in the air before you hit a balloon slide. Other rides were for groups and even had three person tubes. By the end of our time we were all a bit crazy and were riding rides in large groups. Some rides you could pass each other or could hold on to each other like a train. One ride dumped you in several small pools along the way and you would have to try to get up and jump on the next part of the slide.
This water park is specially designed for Germany. It is predominantly indoors, with a roof that opens when the weather is nice but closes at night or in cold weather. There are several restaurants and stands scattered throughout the park. There is a large pool with a pool drink stand. You can literally swim up to the stand, order a drink, and drink it in the pool. There is a bridge that goes over the pool, a cave built into the side, and an opening so you can swim to the outside portion without getting wet. There is also a completely different set of things outside. There are a couple of tamer slides for children, a huge bounce castle, several sand playgrounds, a huge half-sphere that acts like a trampoline, and hundreds of lawn chairs to lounge on. There are special areas inside as well. There is a quiet sleeping room, tanning rooms, mineral and medicinal hot tubs, saunas, warm tubs, and many other things I can’t remember or didn’t see. Although we all came home tired, it was a wonderfully full and exciting day. Again, we were able to get to know people form throughout the company better and just enjoy a day together. People had the freedom to do whatever they wanted, but by the end of the day most of us were enjoying many rides and dinner together. I look forward to getting other people’s feedback and planning more trips like it in the future.
